Diada Nacional de Catalunya 2023

The concept revolves around the slogan "Catalan: One language, many accents." The central theme of Diada 2023 must be that of unity in diversity, exemplifying this through the Catalan language as a meeting point, a tool for the future, and a shared legacy.

The question we, as designers, ask ourselves to address and represent this slogan, even though we are talking about dialects, is; What can be the best graphic and formal way to represent dialectical diversity and different types of accents? 

The answer is the [ ́] orthographic/phonetic accent itself.

A basic visual element, as it can be represented with a stroke/line and, by playing with direction, the different types of accents and variations within Catalan can be reflected, representing the different directions of the same language.

This accent or module can also be interpreted as an individual, and the multiplication of it would be the ensemble of Catalans with their respective different dialects.

From chaos to order:

Through Gestalt theories, an attempt was made to represent the diversity of Catalan in a unified manner. By repeating this accent, despite being a single base module and playing with different directions, harmonious patterns were created that work towards the same goal.

It's a dynamic identity where we can find different forms. In order for it to work in motion, the representation of the four bars of the senyera was chosen as the main poster.
